Threaten Mainstream records was founded in late 2006 by 3 long time friends and band mates Dan Stoops, David Smith and Dan Houston-Murphy. They wanted to get out all of the great metal that they were hearing from their friends and other local bands.
Dan Houston-Murphy
Dan Houston-Murphy is the producer as well as recording and mixing engineer for Threaten Mainstream Records. In addition to those roles, he is a bassist and Chapman stick player. Dan lied his way into managing a recording studio when he was 23 and has been in the recording business ever since.
After hearing about some of the difficulties that other bands have had with the other labels out there, the Dans and Dave decided that they didn’t want to put any other bands in positions of owing money to try and have their music heard. That required a very unusual approach as well as a lot of talent and creativity.
After much brainstorming and too many phone calls to count, the guys decided that a D.I.Y. approach would be the only way. Dan Stoops and Dan Houston-Murphy were both audio professionals and Dan H. already had the studio, so off they went. During the week of Christmas 2006 the first recording session of Threaten Mainstream Records began.
The story of this label is in it’s infancy and the rest is up to the fans, bands and the folks that are making this possible.
All of the music that you hear here was made ENTIRELY by us.
We paid for all of the studio gear, learned how to use it,
Paid for the CDs out of our own pocket, spent the time to find and sign the bands
Made the cover art and put them out. If you download ANY of this stuff without
paying for it, you are stealing DIRECTLY from the 3 owners of this
label and the band that you liked so much. We are a SMALL label.
Don't hurt us before we get big enough to not really care. Thanks.
